Magazines: management and subeditingI was the chief copy editor on the launch issue of MOMO The Magazine. I worked as a freelance features editor and managing editor on contract for several magazines, including Femina, House and Leisure and Fairlady. These contracts usually encompassed scheduling, deadline management, people management, editorial meetings, physical editing and sign-off. I also worked on various contracts as a subeditor, including for Real Estate magazine, Sunday Life magazine, various retail publications (eg, Clicks Club Card, the Waterfront publications), and mainstream magazines (House and Leisure, Cosmopolitan, Fairlady, etc). |
I was the launch editor for i magazine, City Press's Sunday supplement, published by New Media.
This involved, from scratch, building an editorial and design team, planning and commissioning the first five issues, editing copy, sourcing images, and overseeing production. We produced our first issue in 16 days.
